Nebraska Artifact Show - Seward

The official kick-off event of Celebrate Nebraska Archaeology Month will be here before you know it!
If you're interested in attending this event, then here are the details that you need to know!

The 10th Annual Nebraska Artifact Show will be held in Harvest Hall at the Seward County Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 16 from 9am-6pm.  This artifact show will give visitors the opportunity not only to talk to professional archaeologists, but also private collectors about the wonderful artifacts that they have collected over the years.

There will be a talk at 1:30 by Jeffrey J. Richner, who is retired from the National Park Service, entitled "A Brief History of Glass Beads in the Indian Trade" as well as over 100 booths set up with collections of artifacts.  You are invited to peruse these booths and ask any questions that you have about the artifacts!

Please check the flyer for more details, or visit the Artifact Show website at: https://sites.google.com/site/webnas/nebraska-artifact-show

We look forward to seeing you at Seward for the kick-off of Nebraska Archaeology Month, as well as at other events throughout September!

Until next time, safe travels and happy troweling!

Visit Hudson-Meng!

As our calendar is beginning to fill up with events for September, keep in mind that there are events all across the state that give all Nebraskans the opportunity to learn more about the archaeology that is happening here!

In particular, there will be lots of interesting things happening at the Hudson-Meng Bison Kill Site near Crawford, NE.  They will be kicking off the Archaeology Month celebration in Western Nebraska with their annual knap-in on Labor Day weekend.  This will only be the first of many fun events happening at the site over the month of September (the rest are all posted on our calendar, which is linked to the left).

Please see the poster below for more details on the knap-in, and leave a comment to let us know if you will be stopping by for a visit any time during September to celebrate Nebraska Archaeology with the crew at Hudson-Meng!
